Trade Deadline- Robert Quinn

The trade deadline is Monday November 1 st .  The Eagles moves at the trade deadline under Howie Roseman have not been earthshattering (like Carolina recently trading Christian McCaffrey to the 49ers for 4 draft picks, 1 each in rounds 2-5).  Roseman is all about value, so in a trade like that he would almost certainly be receiving the draft capital.  The question was would Roseman make a statement to his players that the Front Office is behind the teams attempt to march to the playoffs, and possibly further?  He did that in 2017 when a 4 th round pick was moved to get Running Back Jay Ajayi (a successful  move for the Super Bowl run).  He did it again in 2019 when  3 rd round pick was moved to get wide receiver Golden Tate (largely unsuccessful).  One could argue Roseman already made that move when he grabbed slot corner (now safety) CJ Gardner Johnson off the Saints roster for a pair of late round picks.   Now he has added a “week appro...

Dallas Dumped in Prime Time

The Eagles earned a big win on national television vs. the division rival Cowboys to remain undefeated.   They will enter the bye week with the opportunity to remain atop the NFC.   While this bye week appeared too early when the schedule was released, many players need to heal up, especially on the Eagles best/deepest position, the Offensive Line.   Those guys want to take the opportunity to mend, while the coaches self-scout and add wrinkles to what has been a successful first 6 games.   Dallas: The Eagles continued an unusual pattern of scoring most of their points in the second quarter (more on that later).   But a 20-0 lead effectively won them the game, albeit with some nail-gnawing in the 2nd half as the Cowboys, to their credit, did not fold on the road.   The half would likely have ended with that score, but Cowboy kick returner Kavontae Turpin is a talented youngster, and got the Boys into field goal range against a suspect Eagle kick...

Battle of Birds- Better to be Lucky than Good- Eagles 20 Arizona 17

5-0.   For the third time ever by an Eagles team (1981, 2004). By the skin on their chinny, chin, chin, the Eagles did just enough to win.   Barely.   Good fortune added to the favorable decision: The Good: The Eagles knew it’d be a long day at the office chasing around the ever elusive, athletic Kyler Murray, Arizona’s quarterback.   They did that by maintaining a disciplined (stay in their lane) controlled rush.   Murray did a great job getting the ball out quickly (tied for 4 th amongst NFL starting QB’s in getting the ball off from the pocket this week at 2.1 seconds).   The combination of a controlled rush and Murray’s quick release meant the Eagles got just 1 sack this week.   But the D-Line was there… 2.1 seconds is an excellent time by Murray releasing the ball (many attempts were actually under 2 seconds).   Regardless, typically an Eagle D-Lineman was forcing pressure at the time the ball was released, clearly a quick pass rus...

Jags Jacked by Birds- Eagles 29 Jacksonville 21

4-0.   Didn’t feel like that’d be the case early in the first quarter.   After a Jalen Hurts pick 6 via a rare out of character forced throw, and an early TD drive by the Jags, the Eagles put their big boy pants on.   The O-Line, despite 2 key injuries (Isaac Seumalo and Jordan Mailata) got relief performances from Sua Opeta and Jack Driscoll, and they dominated in the rain (Sirianni did not try to force the pass game in the torrential down pour).   Miles Sanders ran behind the big boys and contributed his best game as an Eagle (27-134-2 running along with a couple of key pass receptions). Sanders ran tough, and he ran hard, and though some Eagle fans have complained he “leaves too much meat on the bone on too many running plays” (ludicrous!!), there was no evidence of that last Sunday.   And in that pouring rain, Jalen Hurts, unlike his counterpoint on the Jags (Trevor Lawrence) was able to make the throws he needed to make, and the Birds ripped off 29 p...
